Spotify turns listening into a conversation, ChatGPT retrieves past work, and Google generates missing images inside Search.

The newest product updates can control media, recover personal files, and create visuals without sending users to a separate tool.
CONSUMER AI • MUSIC
Spotify launched Talk to Spotify, a beta assistant that lets Premium users type or speak to the app from Home and Now Playing.
It can choose music, refine requests, explain songs and artists, search listening history, and explore podcasts or audiobooks. It can also save songs, add them to the queue, and follow artists.
The assistant uses playlists, favorite artists, repeat listens, and listening history to personalize answers. The English beta is rolling out to Premium users aged 18 and older in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden on iOS and Android; Spotify warns that answers may be inaccurate during testing.
Why it matters: Spotify is turning search into a control layer for listening. The practical test is whether conversation feels faster than tapping through menus.
PRODUCTIVITY • SEARCH
OpenAI introduced one search experience for past chats, projects, images, and documents inside ChatGPT. Users can search everything together or filter by content type, then open the matching item directly.
The feature is available globally on the web, iOS, and Android across every ChatGPT plan, with no separate price announced.
Why it matters: ChatGPT becomes more useful as a long-term workspace when people can quickly recover earlier work. This update improves navigation through stored content; it does not improve web-search answers or the underlying models.
GENERATIVE MEDIA • SEARCH
Google is adding image generation to AI Overviews, letting people create a custom visual when Search cannot find the image they need. Google’s Nano Banana model turns a text request into a new image inside the results page.
The feature will roll out over the coming weeks in English wherever AI Mode already supports image creation. Google did not announce a separate price.
Google also introduced a personalized Google Images home page for desktop users in the United States. It requires a Google account and includes an updated gallery and saved collections.
Why it matters: Google is combining image discovery and creation in one place, reducing the need to switch between Search and a separate image tool.
🧠RESEARCH
Researchers introduced ScaleCUA, a framework that creates verifiable training tasks for AI agents operating computers. It generated more than 24,000 tasks and nearly 3,000 high-quality training examples. The resulting open-source agent scored 68.7% on OSWorld and 54.0% on ScienceBoard, while a new visual-training method made learning 2.83 times faster overall.
SETA creates realistic, automatically checked command-line environments for training AI agents. Its released dataset contains more than 4,500 environments. Training an 8-billion-parameter Qwen model produced a 12% Terminal-Bench 2.0 pass rate, while DeepSeek-V4-Flash improved from 40% to 43% on first attempts and from 54% to 58% across five tries overall.
SDABench tests whether AI can perform real scientific analysis rather than merely run code. It contains 527 real-data tasks and 6,000 synthetic tasks across five sciences. Testing 15 models found strong descriptive skills but sharp failures when selecting assumptions, explaining mechanisms, modeling hidden processes, or drawing valid conclusions from evidence.

The White House launched Gold Eagle, a clearinghouse that coordinates vulnerabilities found by AI systems across government, open-source software partners, and critical infrastructure providers. The administration reports that the system is already receiving, checking, prioritizing, and routing security problems for repair, although those performance claims have not been independently verified.
Australia plans to create an Office of AI inside the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to coordinate standards across government. The proposed office is intended to streamline approvals and compliance while addressing jobs, safety, intellectual property, energy use, and the environmental effects of data centers.
Reflection AI reportedly signed a $1 billion computing agreement with Nebius, giving the open-model startup access to Nvidia’s latest chips. The deal follows another computing partnership with SpaceX and adds infrastructure for training and running Reflection’s models.
Publishers including Hachette, Cengage, and Elsevier joined authors in a class action accusing Google of using copyrighted books to train Gemini without permission. The complaint also alleges that Google altered copyright information; the claims remain unproven, and Google had not publicly responded when the report was published.
SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son predicted that AI development will require $5 trillion in annual investment by 2040 and that AI revenue could reach 20% of global economic output. He also forecast three terawatts of data-center power demand, but did not explain how he calculated the figures.
